Hello darlings! Today I have a long overdue post for you about Makeup Revolution. I'm sure by now you've all heard about this brand because it has really exploded in the beauty blog community. :) I was lucky enough to have been sent a few lovely products from Ličila.si (a Slovenian online beauty store). I decided to do a review of all the products in one post and also do a makeup look using them.
First off I thought we should get the bad part behind us... there was one product that left me really unimpressed - Amazing Lengths clear mascara. When I got this product I wasn't quite sure what to do with it really - a clear mascara? Still, I decided to try it out and see how it works, if it works. Unfortunately it turned out it doesn't really do much. It is what is says - a clear mascara and that's all. I tired using it on it's own or before applying regular mascara and there was absolutely no effect to my lashes, they looked exactly the same, just coated with a clear 'gel'. I guess you could use this as a brow gel/mascara, but it isn't marketed for that. All in all a big thumbs down for this product.
And then came the other products... First I decided to try out the Baked bronzer (I got it in the shade Bronzed Fame, but you can get in 3 other shades as well). I immediately loved the way it looked (I really like baked bronzers/blushes/eyehadows, especially those with a 'marble' effect to them, they just look so pretty), but I wasn't too sure how it would preform - some times baked products can be a bit more powdery/crumbly and can have poorer pigmentation. And with the marble effect you sometimes don't really know what color/shade you'll end up with after swirling your brush around in the product.
Thankfully this bronzer turned out really nicely on my skin. It is a tiny bit too orange for my liking (I prefer using bronzers that are a really neutral brown color and can be used for contouring as well as bronzing up the skin), but as I said it turned out great on my skin and blended out beautifully so I definitely didn't end up looking like and 'ompa-lumpa'. :) It had great staying power and stayed on my face practically till the end of the day when I took my makeup off. A lovely product! :)
The next product I got my hands on was the Amazing Lip Gloss in the shade Coral. This is a wonderful lip gloss that smells great - sweet, vanilla like. Consistency and quality wise it's your typical lip gloss - it gives a beautiful shine to your lips, stays on for about an hour and like most lip glosses, it is sticky so yes, your hair will stick to it. :) I myself don't mind that too much (I mean, I hate it when my hair sticks to my lips, but I don't expect lip glosses to be the same as lipsticks).
I like wearing this on its own or over a lipstick in basically any shade since this lip gloss is pretty clear (even though it looks like it would be an orange/coral color). It has beautiful multi-colored shimmer in it that isn't really that noticeable, but gives a lovely, subtle 'sparkle' to your lips.
Last but certainly not least was the lipstick. I got the shade Passion which looks like a dark, almost oxblood shade, but turns out lighter on the lips - a true, neutral red in my eyes. Really pretty! This lipstick was probably the most surprising product out of all of them, I really didn't expect it to be so pigmented, so easy to apply and last for such a long time. At first it seemed a bit mediocre in the bullet and it looked like it was going to be really drying and hard to apply, but actually it turned out to be beautiful - it applied smoothly and even though I used a lip liner (as I do with all my red lipsticks), I could manage to apply it quite nicely without one as well. :)
The staying power was probably the most impressive aspect of it - again, even though I used a lip liner to line and fill in my lips, that couldn't have been the only reason the lipstick lasted on me for almost 7 hours (and I ate and drank in between quite a few times). It was also pretty hard to remove at the end of the day, because it really stained my lips. :) A wonderful lipstick for such a great price!
So, as I said, I decided to do a makeup look using these products, so you could see how they actually look on me. The first look I did was a more natural one - with nude/natural lips, wearing only the lip gloss in Coral, along with the bronzer (and other face makeup of course). :)
And here's the more 'dramatic' version, wearing the lipstick in Passion. :) I actually really like both looks. What's your favorite?
You can find all these products and more on Ličila.si at amazing prices. These were my first products from Makeup Revolution so I can't say much about the brand, but so far it seems to me like you're getting some really nice makeup for a very affordable price with them. Also, I was very happy with the packaging - everything looks and feels nice and sturdy. I'm very intrigued and I wouldn't mind trying out more products from them.
What are your thoughts on these products? Have you tried anything from Makeup Revolution, what are your first impressions? :)
